Short description

We are looking for a Senior QA / Test Automation Engineer for a long-term remote project in an international data-driven environment. The role combines data and database testing, ETL/data pipeline validation and test automation, with a strong focus on SQL Server, Python and Databricks. The successful candidate should be comfortable working hands-on across data pipelines, APIs and automated quality checks, and should be able to work independently even when requirements or documentation are incomplete.

Job description

• Perform end-to-end testing of data pipelines, ETL processes and database solutions
• Validate data quality, completeness, consistency and transformation logic across source and target systems
• Write and execute complex SQL / SQL Server queries for data validation, reconciliation and troubleshooting
• Develop and maintain Python-based automated tests and data validation solutions
• Create automated checks for data quality and data inconsistencies between Databricks and SQL Server
• Write and maintain tests for ETL jobs running in Databricks
• Develop integration tests for data-processing and backend solutions
• Automate REST API testing and regression scenarios
• Configure and maintain automated test execution in CI/CD pipelines / Jenkins
• Analyse automated test failures, investigate root causes and provide clear test execution results
• Work with large datasets and identify data anomalies, missing records, duplicates and transformation issues
• Collaborate with developers, data engineers, business analysts and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve defects
• Create and maintain test scenarios and QA documentation
• Independently investigate unclear requirements, dependencies, access needs and existing project standards
• Follow and contribute to existing automation templates, coding standards and QA processes
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and communicate progress, risks and blockers
• Support continuous improvement of QA automation, data validation and testing processes

Requirements

• MMinimum 5+ years of professional QA / software testing experience
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL and SQL Server
• Strong experience with database testing, data validation and data quality
• Practical experience testing ETL processes and data pipelines
• Hands-on experience with Python for test automation, integration testing or data validation
• Practical experience with Databricks, including notebooks and data-processing workflows
• Experience with automated REST API testing
• Understanding of source-to-target reconciliation and validation of large datasets
• Ability to analyse failures across source → transformation → database → reporting/API layers
• Experience with CI/CD and automated test execution, ideally Jenkins
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills
• Ability to independently clarify incomplete requirements, identify dependencies and required access, understand existing project standards, and define an appropriate testing or implementation approach with limited guidance
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Fluent English
• Experience with Azure cloud technologies is an advantage
• Experience with Databricks catalogs, bundles or similar deployment concepts is an advantage
• Experience with Postman and/or SoapUI is an advantage
• Experience with qTest, Jira or similar QA/test-management tools is an advantage
• Experience with data analytics, reporting solutions or data-quality monitoring frameworks is an advantage
• Experience testing financial, credit, risk or other data-intensive systems is an advantage
• Experience working across multiple projects or technical domains simultaneously is an advantage
